Save Garth

So, you MIGHT be on this website looking to register for THE most fun event of 2010 (yeh, I'm confident to say that even though it's only in February) and this IS the place to do that. However, before you pay your $70.00, I'd like to encourage you to try to WIN a ScrapFest registration at the Save Garth auction found here.

Why would you want to do that? I moved to Las Vegas as a young gal and made some wonderful friends since I have lived here. The best part of Vegas (well, okay, there's a lot of good parts, but ONE of the best . . . ) is that after living here awhile, circles of friendships cross over and it's not too long before it seems everyone knows everyone. The Abbott family was in my LDS stake and their kids went to seminary and high school with me and my sister and even my brothers. When people talk about "good people," the Abbotts are them. Good peeps, all the way around. Their influence and love has been spread wide and generously. I have been blessed for knowing them.

Last week I was told that Daddy Garth Abbott has been diagonsed with a VERY aggressive form of Breast Cancer {IBS-inflammatory Breast Cancer}. Time is of the essence when it comes to his treatment and he needs to start chemo therapy AS SOON AS POOSIBLE. Garth is uninsured and does not have the means to pay for his treatments. Sadly, in our country, this means NO treatment. Garth's daughter-in-law (who, interestingly/circle-crossingly enough, was a new teacher when I was AND who I seemed to ALWAYS bump into at the Dr. when I was having my babies!) has started an auction to raise monies for Garth's treatment and I would like to help (and I am hoping you would too.)

I'm not sure what the auction will start at, but maybe you can score it for cheaper than the $70.00 if you just click on the button here. And IF you score it for more than $70.00, then you'll be blessed with not only the good times at ScrapFest, but knowing you helped a most wonderful family.

If you want to make sure you're registered, go ahead and click on the right bar where it says PAY HERE, but then check out Rachelle's blog to see what else you might want to bid on to benefit Garth. Thanks everyone!

I'm not sure when ScrapFest will be put on the auction block, but I know my sister's also donating her famous, scrumptious cinnamon rolls, so it's worth checking back there OFTEN!

Heads Up!

Hey ladies!
Some of you have already registered and even invited your friends to ScrapFest which is VERY exciting for me. I just wanted to remind you that the price for registration is going up on January 1, 2010 from $60 (without the early bird) to $70. Ten bucks can buy you a lot of great supplies at Pebbles in my Pocket (who has agreed to their 25% off discount for all our purchases again, thank you very much Pebbles!) or lunch at Pizza Factory, so make sure you register in the next couple days before the price goes up.

And please invite new people! We're definitely looking for new blood this year and IF the first timer names you as a referral you get extra bonus tickets. Which means you get extra chances to win some really cool stuff!

Finally, several of you signed up for ScrapFest 2010 but I have yet to receive your payment via paypal OR I received a payment without the registration form. Please make sure you sign up AND click on the pay now button to complete your registration. Remember, your name on the roster on the blog (ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THIS HERE BLOG >>>) is your receipt.

Looking SO forward to this new year and to seeing you in just a couple short months in all our scrappin’ glory!!
Have a great New Year’s!

ScrapFest 2010

It's the MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!!!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know Christmas is right around the corner, but JUST as exciting is SCRAPFEST is a mere 81 days away (from when I posted this!) And trust me, by the time Jolly St. Nick has come and my decorations are all packed BACK into the garage, I plan on making a resolution for EVERYONE's benefit. This year's ScrapFest WILL be the biggest, best, most wonderful one yet. You won't want to miss out.

So, here's how you register. On the side bar, you'll see sections to register and another one to pay for your services. Click on the link to fill out the registration form and then come back to the blog. Choose an option for your payment BEFORE you click on "BUY NOW." You can highlight "Early Bird only" for $30.00, "ScrapFest only" for $60.00, OR "ScrapFest AND Early Bird for $90.00." (**PLEASE NOTE: This year ScrapFest registration will be $60.00 from now until December 31st. On January 1st, the price will be $70.00 to register. Early bird will remain $30.00 from now until February 5, 2010.) You can pay through your own Paypal account or with a debit or credit card. Once ScrapFest receives your payment and your registration survey, you'll be added to the "Who's coming" list below. That will serve as your receipt.

If, for any reason, you need a refund of your ScrapFest registration, requests must be submitted to in writing before January 1, 2010 (a comment on this blog requesting a refund will suffice.) I know sometimes things come up and you might not be able to make it, even though you've registered, and you'd like to transfer your registration to someone else. All transfers will be accepted UNTIL February 1, 2010. This allows time for planning/printing changes.

What are you paying for, you might ask? Well, besides the good times and laughs and relaxation (which, let's face it, are pretty priceless) you will be paying for the following:

*Table space (appx. 4 ft. table space)
*Access to 12x12 printer and oodles of fonts for your journaling needs
*Treats and sweets and yummies and goodies
*Special crop challenges and games (only if you're interested)
*Wi-fi access through the Holiday Inn
*Water service
*Great giveaways (and I mean GREAT!!!)
*Welcome gift
Those registering for the Early Bird crop will enjoy an additional gift.

SPOTS FOR SCRAPFEST ARE STILL LIMITED,
but there are more available this year,
so tell your friends!

This year, the giveaways will be on a drawing basis and YOU get to choose what you're really interested in winning. I don't want to give away ALL the secrets, but we've got some fun, good stuff for the scrappers AND hobby folks AND the we're-just-using-this-weekend-as-an-excuse-away peeps! Because of that, the first 20 people who completely register will receive bonus tickets. And IF you refer your friends to come (it has to be their first time coming), you will ALSO recieve bonus tickets. (Just make sure they note that on the "Who referred you question on the registration.) So, hurry up. Register. Like, now. I mean . . . come back and read the schedule of events later. We're talking bonus tickets available people!!!

REGISTERING TIPS
This event is a get-away to [hopefully] accomplish some good stuff. Because of that, this event is not meant for kids and families. That being said, we believe the ones who need the most break is sometimes those newer moms, so please only bring babies who will not be distracting to other scrappers who are also getting-away and/or those babies that rely on you for their nourishment.

On the registration form, there is a special spot for you to include special accommodations you may need. THIS would be the place to explain that you are bringing your computer and/or your own printer and need some outlet access, or that you're bringing a baby. Do you have any food allergies? THIS would be the place to tell us about them. It would also be the spot where you request what friends you want to sit with and/or special table arrangements you would prefer. I work really hard to address all those issues beforehand and it'll be extremely helpful to address these issues BEFORE the start of ScrapFest as opposed to once we're ready to begin the good times. ALSO, please fill out the music request question. We've had the most complaints over music and will do a ScrapFest Compilation playlist this year. All other music will need to be through personal earphones only.

So, now that you've sent your payment through PayPal and completed your registration, it's time to make your hotel arrangements at the Holiday Inn in St. George. Line up some roomies or make your reservation and then convince some friends to register to split the cost. When making your hotel room reservation, call 1-435-628-4235 OR 1-800-457-9800 and make sure you make reference to the ScrapFest room rate, so you can get the best deal. Room registration should be made by February 1, 2010 to insure you get our super special rate. Rooms, this year, are $84.99/night. Too, Holiday Inn has a small workout facility, hot tub, and and heated indoor/outdoor pool for your enjoyment.

FINALLY, keep checking this blog. If there's any kind of update or information we need to share, it will be ON THIS BLOG. Leave comments or questions for me on this blog, too, and it'll be easier to get back to you . . . chances are if I've left something out others will be wanting to know the answer, too.

K. So, go register. And tell your friends. How fun is it to bring in new friends? It's what makes this trip SO MUCH FUN!

False Alarm!

SO, if you came to register for ScrapFest you'll find this post instead. BECAUSE somehow November was a little shorter than I planned, or December jumped the gun (I'm not sure which), but SCRAPFEST registration will be up tonight rather than TODAY. Sorry about that for those of you on the ball enough to come and check. I will email all registrants from last year once everything is linked-y-linked. Thanks for the patience . . . my Christmas decorations thank you :)

Bare Bones Recap

I thought I'd post the very few pictures I took at fabulous Bare Bones Scrapfest. Simple as it was, we all enjoyed a relaxing time and most of us got plenty of scrapbook pages done (not to mention the shopping, eating, sewing projects, book-reading, conversating, and movie-seeing.)
Thanks to everyone who came!
P.S. Not pictured is the wonderful Sheri Irvine. Hopefully DJ Jazzy Griffin will email me some ASAP and I can add them to the collection.

*And here's some super great info to file on your calendars . . . SCRAPFEST registration for February 19-21 begins on December 1st, 2009. Stay tuned to this blog for info because the early birds get the bonus tickets for killer drawings!!!*
